Chat System
Every project needs good communication. Valiro’s chat keeps conversations organized by giving each project its own space, while still letting you message colleagues directly when you need to.
Project chats
Section titled “Project chats”When you create a project, it automatically gets its own chat thread. This is where your team discusses that specific project—questions about the scope, updates from the field, decisions that need to be made.
The nice thing about project chats is that the conversation stays with the project. Six months from now, if someone asks “why did we decide to do it that way?”, the answer is right there in the chat history.
Everyone assigned to the project can see and participate in the project chat. If you need to loop someone in, just add them to the project.
Direct messages
Section titled “Direct messages”Sometimes you just need to ask a quick question or have a private conversation. Direct messages work the way you’d expect—pick a person, send a message.
Use these for things that don’t belong in a project chat: scheduling questions, personal check-ins, or sensitive topics.
Team chats
Section titled “Team chats”For conversations that span multiple projects or involve a whole department, you can create team chats. These are useful for things like “Field Crew” or “Operations Team” where you need a shared space that isn’t tied to any single project.
Sending messages
Section titled “Sending messages”Type your message, hit Enter. That’s it.
If you need someone’s attention, type @ followed by their name. They’ll get a notification, and your message will be highlighted for them.
You can attach files directly in chat if you need to share something quickly—though for important project documents, it’s better to upload them to the Documents section so they’re searchable and available to AI.
Finding old conversations
Section titled “Finding old conversations”All your messages are saved. Scroll up to see history, or use the search to find something specific. By default, messages are kept for 90 days, though your admin may have configured a different retention period.
Keeping things organized
Section titled “Keeping things organized”If you have chats you use constantly, pin them to the top of your list. For projects that have wrapped up, you can archive their chats to declutter—the history is preserved if you ever need it.
On mobile
Section titled “On mobile”Field users can access chat from their phones. It’s the same conversations, just optimized for a smaller screen. This means your office team and field crew stay connected in real-time, no matter where they are.
