Document Context

When you ask Valiro AI a question, it searches through documents to find the answer. But which documents? That’s what context controls.

Project context — AI only looks at documents from a specific project. Use this when asking about project-specific things: “What are the deliverables for this project?” or “What does the contract say about payment terms?”

Company context — AI only looks at company-wide documents like policies, procedures, and manuals. Use this for general questions: “What’s our safety procedure for working at heights?” or “How do we handle equipment checkout?”

Blended context — AI looks at both project documents and company documents. Use this when you’re not sure which bucket has the answer, or when you need information from both.

The context affects the quality of your answers.

If you ask “What safety equipment do I need?” in project context, AI might find project-specific requirements. In company context, it might find your general safety policy. In blended context, it finds both—which might be exactly what you want, or it might be more information than you need.

Generally:

  • Project-specific questions → Project context
  • Policy and procedure questions → Company context
  • Not sure → Blended context, then narrow down if needed

Look for the context selector in the Valiro AI interface. It’s usually near the chat input or in the settings for the current conversation. Pick the mode you want before asking your question.

Some Gems might have a default context already set. A “Project Assistant” Gem might always use project context. A “Policy Reference” Gem might default to company context. Check what you’re working with.
