Creating Project Templates
Project templates allow you to define reusable project structures that save time and ensure consistency.
What Are Project Templates?
Section titled “What Are Project Templates?”Project templates store:
- Project name and description as a template
- Default stage setting
- Predefined work package structures
When you create a new project from a template, these settings are automatically applied.
Required Fields
Section titled “Required Fields”Give the template a descriptive name that reflects the project type.
Examples:
- “Standard Project”
- “Maintenance Project”
- “Customer Project - Small”
Description
Section titled “Description”Describe what this template is intended for and when it should be used.
Optional Fields
Section titled “Optional Fields”Default Stage
Section titled “Default Stage”Choose the starting stage for projects created from this template:
- Discovery - For projects in the initial phase
- Planning - For projects ready for planning
- Execution - For projects starting immediately
- Closeout - Rarely used as a default value
After Creating
Section titled “After Creating”After saving the template:
- It appears in the template selection when creating new projects
- It can be edited at any time
- Changes only affect new projects, not existing ones
