Creating Project Templates

Project templates allow you to define reusable project structures that save time and ensure consistency.

Project templates store:

  • Project name and description as a template
  • Default stage setting
  • Predefined work package structures

When you create a new project from a template, these settings are automatically applied.

Give the template a descriptive name that reflects the project type.

Examples:

  • “Standard Project”
  • “Maintenance Project”
  • “Customer Project - Small”

Describe what this template is intended for and when it should be used.

Choose the starting stage for projects created from this template:

  • Discovery - For projects in the initial phase
  • Planning - For projects ready for planning
  • Execution - For projects starting immediately
  • Closeout - Rarely used as a default value

After saving the template:

  1. It appears in the template selection when creating new projects
  2. It can be edited at any time
  3. Changes only affect new projects, not existing ones
