Work Package Template Overview
Work package templates help you standardize common work package structures that you can reuse across multiple projects.
Template Details
Section titled “Template Details”This view displays the complete details of a work package template:
- Name - The template name for easy identification
- Description - What this template is used for
- Default Status - The initial status when creating work packages from this template
- Estimated Hours - Default time estimate for the work package
Using This Template
Section titled “Using This Template”To create a work package from this template:
- Navigate to a project
- Click “New Work Package”
- Select this template from the template dropdown
- The work package will be pre-populated with the template’s settings
Managing the Template
Section titled “Managing the Template”From the menu in the top right, you can:
- Edit - Modify the template’s name, description, and default values
- Delete - Remove the template (this won’t affect existing work packages created from it)
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Create templates for recurring work package types in your organization
- Use descriptive names that clearly indicate the template’s purpose
- Set realistic default estimated hours based on past experience
- Review and update templates periodically to reflect process improvements
